Remember how months and months ago at Family Beach Week I hired a professional photographer to take portraits of me and my ungrateful family? And then the photographer's memory card corrupted and we thought the pictures were lost? WELL. She was able to salvage them, but was so embarrassed about the whole situation that she didn't charge me. It took her a few months to edit some of the pictures and compile them on a CD to send to me. Hey, I wasn't going to complain about how long it took her, she wasn't charging me.
So, after weeks and weeks of my cousins all harassing me for the stupid photos (I wasn't going to in turn harass the photographer, remember, she was doing this for FREE), I finally get the disk, and the pictures turned out pretty good. They weren't wonderful, but, after believing we had NO pictures, the ones she was able to salvage were still really good. Much better than you or I could have taken with a regular point and shoot camera.
The other night, I spent some hours copying the CD for everyone. I sent copies to New York, New Jersey, Texas, Oklahoma. All over the place. I got little sleeves for the CDs so they wouldn't get scratched up. I got padded envelopes so the CDs wouldn't get damaged going through the mail. I sent them to every family member.
Guess how many people called to thank me?
ZERO.*
There was only ONE person who acknowledged receiving the disk and thanked me. Via text. Appearently, I don't even warrant a phone call (in her defense, she was probably really busy, but still!)
First, the post about one-sided friendships, and now this. Please remind me why I am an idiot, and keep putting myself out there to continually be disappointed by people.
*ETA: ONE. One fabulous cousin called me up to thank me for the CD. Feeling better :) And also, one FB message. Getting somewhere.
