The high school reunion has come and gone, and it went wonderfully (if I do say so myself). Everything went according to plan, people showed up (actually, a lot of them!), we came in under budget (which means we can make a donation to the school's foundation in our classes name), and I got the opportunity to reconnect with a lot of pretty cool people.
Of course all the people were smarter and more accomplished than me, but what are you going to do?
In general it was interesting to see people again. I found out that a lot are actually STILL HERE, like me! In the same place, so I can try to keep up with them more (and continue my "Networking 2009" initiative). Still lots more were DOCTORS. Lots and lots of doctors. Slightly fewer lawyers, almost everyone with an advanced degree.
The best part of the weekend, was that I was able to see my closest friends. Although I scampered off to mingle (it was a requirement of the planning committee), I still came back to spend lots of quality time with the few girls whose company I really enjoy (and I don't even have to make awkward small talk about this or that).
I even did a pretty decent job about hanging out with the few classmates that had new babies, or who were obviously going to have new babies in the near future. I talked and socialized like a completely normal person, and not the bitter, bitter bitch, which I so obviously am.
Overall, I would chalk this one up to another success.
**For everyone that had to put up with my grumpy hubs on Friday or Saturday night - I AM SO SORRY. He was kind of a stick in the mud, and I think meeting tons and tons of people, with whom I had some kind of connection and he had none, made him super uncomfortable. Also, I think he had some kind of jealousy issue, as he asked if every other guy was an ex of mine. Something insecure is going on there, and I should probably look into it further, but, it's really his issue, and not mine. Besides, I am exhausted.
