Gr-ATTITUDE

Last night I attended another RESOLVE meeting.  We were supposed to have a speaker talking to us about Spirituality and Infertility, but, unfortunately, the speaker came down with some kind of flu, and was unable to join us.  The woman who runs our group is a professional licensed counselor, and has also experienced this whole journey first hand.  It is always good to commiserate with people who have been in your shoes, and you know you're not crazy when facing this whole clusterfuck of options, emotions, and expectations.

Anyway, our group leader (who is now a parent through adoption) mentioned that while undergoing treatments, she kept a gratitude journal.  Everyday, she forced herself to write doen 5 things she was grateful for that day, and set a goal for the next day.  I thought this was a really good idea, and kind of brushed it off, thinking it was something that is completely ridiculous and off the wall (for me to try personally).

Well.  I am changing my tune.  After watching yet another television drama last night that reduced me to a whimpering, blubbering mess, I figure, I might need to start doing this, if for no other reason than to get a hold of my fragile emotional state.  And because I can't keep track of another list or book or journal, you get to hear why I am so grateful right here.  On my blog.  Get excited.

DISCLAIMER:  I do not guarantee that I will be posting this on a daily basis.  But maybe a little more infrequently to remind myself that my misery is NOT the end of the world, and also because a little good attitude never hurt anyone.  Right?  RIGHT?!?

So, ladies and gentlemen, without further ado:  Here are the five things I am grateful for today:

  1. There are no supervisors in my office today.  YAY!  Sometimes it's nice when Big Brother is at a conference.
  2. I have replenished my sugar-free chocoalte and candy stash, and it is delicious. (I found hard candies!)
  3. I am, in fact, blessed with the best husband - someone who truly understands me and supports me, especially through all this CRAP.
  4. I am looking forward to my trip with my in-laws for the SOLE REASON of being able to discuss it with you all, wonderful readers.
  5. I look forward to the colder weather tomorrow, as I am looking forward to wearing a comfy, cozy sweater.
I know those last two are less "gratitude" items, and more "postitive outlook" items.  It's my list.  Get over it.

Tomorrow's Goal:  To get some menu planning and grocery shopping done.  (I know this doesn't sound so exciting for you, but the grocery store is pretty much my favorite place in the world next to my kitchen).  Getting groceries and cooking both put me in a stellar mood, and I am looking forward to begin holiday baking this weekend!  Let's hope I can maintain the energy to get that all done!
