Back to the package from my in-laws. So, I am sure you're still recovering from seeing all the handwritten letters and sticker covered envelopes. Beleive me, I still am too. But there's one thing I really don't get. My SIL is at least a year older than I am. Her and I don't have a relationship by any means. Not that I wouldn't mind one, and I have tried, but we're far too different for that. We don't communicate by phone, or even letters like this. Aside from the fact that we have nothing in common except the Hubs, there's nothing there. She didn't go to college, she doesn't work, she still lives at home, she has a lot of animals (particuraly birds - EW), she's very overweight (and while that's not a reason for not having nothing in common, I am an athletic person, and she doesn't do that stuff). You get the point. When we're in the same room we talk. It's usually me asking questions and getting one word answers, and then some chatter about H.arry Pot.ter, because we do both enjoy the books and movies. But there is a limit to how much HP one professional adult can (and should) handle.
So we do have some communication. Aside from that, this is all I get:
I am sure you're asking yourself, "well, WTH is this?" This, my internets, is the holiday "card" we get from my SIL. Obviously, it is themed for the spooky Halloween Package. And, again apologizing for the poor quality of the photo, you probably can't tell that it is construction paper. And colored with colored pencils. They eyes are different layers of construction paper. I know she has better art supplies - Hubs and I bought her pastels and oil paints last year for Christmas, but, I guess she's off the crayons (for a while seriously - sending cards colored with crayons. No shit.)
This is what it looks like on the back:
On the left-hand side it says "WHO-WHO". On the right, "Happy Halloween! Love, SIL". In the middle it's dated 2009.
I know some of you are probably reading this thinking, oh, that was a nice gesture, and she can't be that bad, and KP, you are just an obnoxious hateful bitch who needs to shut the fuck up. I know, you're probably right.
And it IS a nice gesture. And I DO appreciate it. (Really. Hand to God. It is very nice. We always thank her too.)
I am not that familiar with construction paper as a meduim, so maybe I don't know if it's making a comeback or whatever. I guess I have just been under the assumption that this is the kind of project you make with your second grade class the day before the holiday - remember those handprint turkeys? Yea. I am just trying to get you on my side, and say, "hey, it's not such a shocker that KP and SIL don't really have much to chat about."
But that's cool if you want to still think I am that obnoxious hateful bitch. I would just prefer you tell me with a handmade card.
