I used to think that my little family was doing okay in the sleep department. N consistently sleeps for 8 hours or longer, sometimes punctuated by a little wake up call after that 8 hour mark. It has been really nice, actually. After reading about sleep training experiences shared by Jennifer and Shannon, where children sleep for 11 hours. In. A. Row. OMG, I want on this train.
N usually hits the sack around 8 pm, which is great, but then if that's one of those nights where she only sleeps 8 hours, it means waking up at 4 am. Which is early, ya'll. Seriously.
Now, I am torn....I am all about wanting more sleep. I NEED more sleep. I have a head cold I haven't been able to kick for about 2 weeks now, and I am attributing that to my inconsistent sleep. BUT, with work being the pain in the ass that it is right now, I find this 4 am feeding to be the only time I actually get to breastfeed (sorry for the overshare!). I am usually working at the office from 8am to about 7pm. By the time I get home in the evenings, the Hubs has already fed N, so she's not looking to eat again. (And yes, to facilitate this ridiculous work schedule with regular pumping, and lots of it. It is not glamorous).
So I guess I need to decide...do I want to get those couple of uninterrupted hours of sleep, or do I want to continue on with our routine, even if that means waking up at 4 am occasionally? I want both, but I think until work simmers down a bit, I will be looking forward to that early morning bonding with N. :)

Honestly, if I were in shoes, I'd forgo the training. If you only have one chance to nurse her, I'd definitely keep doing it. The time goes by way too quickly and I know that bonding time is awesome. And getting a good 8 hour stretch is pretty darn good!
