And yes, I know I am behind on my challenge. So I am tweaking it a little bit. I am trying to get 28 posts in 28 days. I owe you like, 3 more. I will blame it on the fact that I didn't even bring a camera this weekend to JK's bachelorette wine tour and bridal shower, and I am waiting for pictures to be uploaded so that I can steal them.
Back to baby.
Sorry for the grainy photo - taken from my Blackberry. If you had to wait to see the pictures downloaded from my camera, you might be waiting a while. Don't hold your breath. Also pardon the massive amounts of spit and messy bed. It was taken early in the morning, and we were all just waking up.
So, N is now 5 months old, and I can't believe it. She's sitting up on her own, obviously. She has yet to master the rolling over (she can roll from front to back, but not back to front). She's constantly drooling, which is obviously attributed to teething. There are no teeth poking out yet, but I can feel them in her mouth. Speaking of drool, she loves blowing raspberries and spit bubbles. And babbling. And shouting. It is hilarious. She's a great baby, who sleeps mostly through the night, as long as she's still swaddled. Yes, I know, you're probably not supposed to swaddle a 5 month old. But if she's sleeping through the night, and she's happy, I'm happy. Hell, I'll swaddle her until she's 16 if that's what it takes. (Disclaimer: I did ask the doctor, who says it's fine, and some babies just prefer the warm, cuddly swaddle for longer. So there.) We haven't started solid food yet, and we are in no rush to do so. With me working and missing other milestones, we are going to push this one back as far as we can. Besides - babies who eat more food mean more mess to clean up. And also more gross cloth diapers to wash. Oh - and those cloth diapers? Awesome. No complaints in that department. It's been going well, and The Hubs thinks they are genius (and prefers them to disposables...and he even washes them!!), and we have even got myMom on board! Woohoo.
N has a wonderful temperament, and you can even see a little sassy attitude peeking through once in a while. Sometimes we go through periods of stranger anxiety, but for the most part, she doesn't mind being passed around, and smiling at everyone. Bath time is her favorite, and she enjoys kicking and splashing...might be time to move to the big-kids tub, as the little infant one doesn't contain her long legs! She loves standing up (bearing weight on her legs), and spending some quality time in her Exer-saucer. She spends most days with Daddy, and goes to my Grandmother's house once or twice a week. Thanks to my busy social schedule this year, she's gotten to spend lots of weekends with myMom and myDad too. I haven't had it in me to leave her overnight yet, but I think we are getting to that point. Not because I want to leave her (I'm not ready for that yet!) but JK's wedding is out of town at the end of the month, and I think traveling might be easier this way. Besides, my parents will be all over that. And, it will give the Hubs and I some time to revert back to normal adults, even if just for a night.
These days she's all about smiles and giggles, and recognizes when we leave a room. She's starting to play games like peek-a-boo, and has this belly laugh that can't help but make you melt inside. She loves grabbing things and trying to work her hands. She gets very cloes to discovering her feet, but hasn't yet (the cloth diapers are a little bulky, and I think this affects flexibility). She has discovered that she has knees and legs, and sometimes confuses herself when her hands make contact with them. She loves to grab faces and hair, and it's amazing the way you can seel the little wheels turning in her head as she discovers something new.
I am so lucky to have this precious little baby in my life! She is so amazing.
I will really try to get more pictures up as soon as I can...I need to get better about taking them too.
Hope you all have a great day! I have to go think of three other posts to write :)
I'm glad you like the cloth diapers! I always wondered about them!
ReplyDeleteAwww look at that little babydoll! I love her little outfit. Way to go on the sitting up so well too, especially on a soft surface. Gabe does well on the floor but would be face planted on the bed by the time I took the picture. And don't you love the grabbing faces? I love when I go and pick him up from the crib and he just pats my face like he's been waiting for me all his life...which I guess he has :)
