New Day, New Letter

Got this in the mail yesterday.  It's a 26 page letter from my MIL.  Yes.  26 pages of note paper, front and back.  She talks about crazy stuff, as usual, Naomi's upcoming baptism, the upcoming beach vacation, and then she goes off on this tangent about death.  It was really strange.  MIL threw her back out the other week (not quite sure how, she doesn't do anything, really), and this "brush with death/being paralyzed" (yes, she said that) really made her talk about how we are all a family, and it is important that we all get along, the possibility of MOVING HERE (I have little faith in this), and even though the three of them (MIL, FIL, and SIL) are the "three musketeers", the "yuppies" (Hubs and I) shouldn't get on them for living their lives differently, and on and on.  Now, I am the first to tell you that it's differ'nt strokes for differ'nt folks, but a lot of this letter sounds like she is projecting her inadequacies and unhappiness and general dissatisfaction with her lot in life on to the Hubs and myself.  Most of it was probably narcotics induced drivel, I am sure.  She went on to say that the last time they saw us (which, was the infamous "pop in"), we were both condescending and critical.  Hm, could that have been due to the fact that you showed up at my house UNANNOUNCED?  She also mentioned in the letter that I shouldn't show it to the Hubs, for he would "flip".

I don't understand how encouraging everyone to get along includes commenting on me being condescending and critical.  And also how sending me a letter laced with passive-aggressive comments, then asking me to hide it from my husband, her son, would accomplish anything.

(Insert exasperated scream, and head-desk motion here)

Have I mentioned how I am planning on being sick in July?  I can't wait.

  1. Wow. Just Wow. That is crazy. You're totally showing it to the hubs, right? Because that is really crazy.
We need Starbucks soon. Before tax season. And I need to meet this Naomi character. ;)
