10 Week Update

N had her first big round of Vaccines today. I'm not trying to be on this side or that side of the Great Vaccine Debate, the Hubs and I are of the belief that the American Academy of Pediatrics wouldn't recommend anything unsafe, so we are sticking to the standard vaccine schedule. I couldn't imagine holding her and having the nurse administer those shots. I'm so grateful the Hubs was able to be ther with her. He said she screamed and wailed like he had never heard before. Especially upsetting for such a normally smilely and happy baby. He says she pulled through like a champ, and now were just on the watch for fever, fussiness and other potentially adverse reactions.

She's 10 weeks old today, and weighed in at a whopping 11 pounds, 9.5 ounces, and 23 3/4 inches. She's in the 50th percentile for her weight and 75th percentile for her height/length (not sure where that one is coming from). Her head is still tiny, in the 25th percentile, which is good, especially considering everyone in my family has a ridiculously large head.

She did really well with all the activity this weekend, and being passed around between friends and myMom, who was gracious enough to babysit. I can't believe how big she's getting, and how much she has been changing. Lately, she's all smiles, and it's just too much too take. She makes happy noises, and she's so good at holding her head up, all by herself. She loves baths and splashing water around. It's amazing to see her become more and more aware of the world around her. She loves her Daddy, and I don't think anyone makes her happier. He sings the ABC's to her, and reads to her every day. You can tell she's taking it all in, and I'm sure one day she'll just wake up wanting to read War and Peace or something.

I know big things are going to start happening, and I'm sure I'll be bummed to be missing them. I am lucky the Hubs will be there, digital camera in hand so I miss as little as possible.

Look Ma, I'm getting so big!

  2. I'm with you on thinking that they are not going to recommend it if it's not safe. I have a 13 week old myself and decided with the shot path myself. I heart your little girl. She is so stinkin cute!
