Four Years Ago

After Ten Minutes of Wedded Bliss

Four years ago, I was lucky enough to marry my husband.  Even though I am sure I get on his nerves all the time, and occasionally he gets on mine, I am so grateful I have him in my life.  Here's a quick story about how we met:

In June of 2004, I was at happy hour with some girlfriends on a Friday night.  You know, the usual.  He had walked into our usual watering hole, and I am pretty sure it was later in the happy hour, and I was 110% convinced he was this kid I knew from high school.  Since I was sitting on the inside of the booth, I couldn't go approach him, so a friend of mine did.  She walked right up to him and asked if he was So-and-So and if he went to high school with that girl (points to me).  He said no, and went back to ordering his drink at the bar.

Clearly miffed that he was not the person I thought he was, I later got up to use the little girls room, and as I walked past the now-Hubs, I said, SORRY  YOU'RE NOT MY FRIEND.  Well, this must have intrigued him, because he then hung out with me at that bar, as well as the next two we went to!  Our relationship progressed the normal way, over tequila shots that first night, and we have been together ever since.  Seriously - except for two weeks in the beginning of our relationship where it turns out he gave me a bad phone number and then later ran into him in a bar and guilted him into dating me, we have been together ever since.  As in, always with each other, together.  In March of 2005, he proposed, we bought a house, and then in June of 2006 we were married.  Ah.  For ever and ever.

Oh, and I forgot to mention - the reason we are so giddy in that picture above is not because we just got married.  It's because the priest referred to me as "Nancy" during the wedding ceremony.  By the way, my real name is NOT Nancy.   Pretty much the best wedding story ever.

Here's a short montage of pictures of us doing things/going places over the years:

Hawaii - April 2009

Miami - 2008

Nantucket - 2007

  1. We should totally be friends. There are an alarming amount of similarities among the years we chose to make life-altering decisions. We seem to be on the same timeline. Yeah I know, with probably a billion other people. But not a billion other funny people with blogs I read. So I'm going with it!

And my relationship started with him buying me vodka and cranberries because neither one of us were drunk enough to hit the dance floor with our friends. Booze brought us together and keeps us together :)
