I am such a procrastinator. I have done almost zero decorating for this child. Parenting FAIL. The Hubs has finally finished priming and prepping the room for me to paint (it's my fault he took so long, I have been a huge slacker about getting things OUT of the room in the first place)
This is my nursery vision. I will be painting the room brown/tan. All the furniture is espresso colored, and the trim will all be done in white. I figure it will be a lot easier to blend in pink or blue after the fact, and I can't be bothered with yellow or green, or any bright colors for that matter. I have tried, I just don't have the eye for them.
Anyway. I am thinking "Camel" by Olympic. And I am unable to find any inspiration photos for my exact idea, so bear with.
I really wanted a tree (like, a white tree silhouette), and I was looking at wall decals. They are expensive, and I have a feeling that I will screw that up in no time.
Then I found this website.
And I am in love.
And now, I can't decide which stencil I want. So this is where you come in. Please provide your opinions on the following stencil ideas:
Birds on a Branch
Spring Songbirds
Spreading Sycamore
Virginia Creeper
(all pictures are from CuttingEdgeStencils.com Go to the website for more kickass views of the stencils in action)
Now, when I attempt this project, all the birds will be cut out. It does not work with my theme, and I kind of have a bird thing. I am not a crazy fan. So, it would just be branches and leaves. I love this idea because I can use different shades of paint to layer the branches and leaves. And it might look a little more filled-in and detailed then my one random tree.
So, what do you think? Which stencil should I chose?
I'll allow this one thing to slide in our road to friendship. I may or may not have been planning my child's nursery since I was 6. Forget the dreams of weddings or husbands, I had nursery themes to focus on. Sad.
ReplyDeleteAnywho, I really really really like trees. And birds. Did I mention my nursery is bird-centric? Ha. We'll let that slide too. Anyway, I pick Spring Songbirds, I like the wispy fullness of it. DO it up.
And I love the name Virginia Creeper. I just like the word creeper is all. I'm gonna start calling people that.
For what it's worth, I do kind of like birds. But here's my thinking - the silhouettes aren't bad. But my MIL is a bird FREAK. Like, 30+ caged birds IN HER HOUSE. I am afraid any interest will branch over to gifts/possibly actual birds! We can't have that now :)
ReplyDeleteI like spring songbirds. I think it will lend itself more to layering.
