On the positive side, there are only three weeks left in tax season, YAY. Which means I will eventually be getting my life back. I am so looking forward to that. In the meantime, here's a list of things I have done in the past month and NOT blogged about:
- The Hubs and I dropped cable. No, we are not crazy. Yes, we are still surviving. We ditched the HD service, the DVR, and the multitude of cable channels, and I think we are happier because of it. We still get basic cable and about 4546 public access channels, and we also joined Netflix. We both like having the TV on less and when we are bored, we are much less likely to turn the TV on. I admit, it was partly due to the money we would be saving, but less TV makes us talk to each other more, and that can't be completely bad, right? I don't think we miss it, and I think as the weather warms up we will miss it even less.

- I signed the fam up for a CSA. That's community supported agriculture, or a farm co-op. We don't have to work on the farm or anything, which is good, since I suck at keeping anything green alive, but you pay for a share up front, and all during the growing season, you receive fresh fruits and veggies! The farmer's market is easily one of my favorite parts of summer - nothing beats a nice, long Saturday morning run, and a walk around the farmer's market with some delicious fresh blueberries. And my local farmer's market is awesome, and I will sing it's praises all day long. I can't wait.
- I finally went out and bought N some new clothes this past weekend. She has been living in clothes gifted so generously from friends and family that I haven't had to purchase any clothes. So we went out. And I spent exactly $100 (yes, $100. and yes, I did buy a lottery ticket. I am feeling the lucky) at Kohls. And I got her an entire summer wardrobe, and I feel like a shopping genius. And now, they are calling for snow this week/weekend here in RIC. So, I guess we need to go get some more clothes. Or she might be wearing her summer jumpers and snowsuit. Whatever works.
- I hit over 100 hours of overtime in a four-week pay period. I know, first you are saying, "crap, your pay period is every 4 weeks?!" Yes. I get paid once every month. It makes me want to kill myself sometimes, but is also very good for not blowing the budget. This excessive working might also contribute to my lack of posting. And also my lack of all social interaction. I really thought March was going to be easier than February this year, but I was wrong. Oh, and that 100 hours? That's hours I billed. Not total hours I spent at work. That time is slightly more. Ugh.
- The Hubs and I left N with my parents for a whole weekend. That was actually just about a month ago, and I might have mentioned it. But it went over well, we are all still alive. N loves her Grandpa and ???, so everyone won. (I say ??? because myMom hasn't really narrowed down her "grandma" name. She suggested Nanny, but myMom is NOT a "Nanny". She's been leaning towards Nona these days, but I guess it's still up in the air)
- We took N to her first funeral. I know, super morbid. A dear friend of the family passed away, and since all my caregivers were at the funeral, we had no one to watch N. So she came along. She wore pink, I couldn't bring myself to dress a baby in black.
- I lost 7 pounds. Which is AWESOME. My current work schedule and lack of sleep (plus, my incredibly atrocious eating habits) have been preventing me from working out or losing any more weight, but I am now committed to really getting back in shape. I am contemplating big things here. I have a 10K next weekend that I haven't really been training for, but I miss running, so here's to getting back on the horse. Or on the road. What have you.
- I ambitiously bought this dress for an upcoming wedding, and I am SO excited about it. (The dress. See the next bullet point for my feelings about the wedding) Let's hope the weight loss keeps itself up so that I fit into it appropriately. Also, I am planning on loading up the bangle bracelets to go with this one. Any suggestions of where to find many bronze-colored bangles?
- The wedding to which I am referring: I RSVP-ed. Not that there was a chance that I wouldn't be going, but I was just taking my time. To be obnoxious. I know, it's silly. But I firmly believe I was left of the wedding shower invite list (92 other people received and invite, and I didn't?...hmmm). Also, have I mentioned that this wedding involves my family? I am anticipating a scene a la "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"-meets-"The Sopranos"-meets-"Roseanne". I know you can't WAIT for that blog post.
- Remember this vacation MIL is hell-bent on doing? Yea. Well, we have committed. I should rephrase. The Hubs committed us. I know, it is his family, and I do have to retain some sense of politeness and not being a general bitch, but I am of the opinion he should have waited to tell me until after things with work die down a little.
- The Hubs has successfully learned how to cook. Which is a nice treat to come home to after a long day. Con: He's on a low-carb diet, and by default, I too, am on a low-carb diet. BOOO. He has had the most success with this cookbook. I highly recommend it. Seriously. He even made tofu. TOFU. And it was delicious.
- I bit the bullet and purchased an external hard drive. I don't know why I was holding off, but whatevs. It was delivered earlier this week, and one of my goals this weekend is to start that puppy up and get on with backing up all my pictures and other nonsense. It was a great idea in theory...
I think this is all that has been happening. I am looking forward to April, and some free time. I really wish I had more to share, but alas, this is my life. For now, I am going to continue my Friday night, snug in my bed with a sleeping baby curled up next to me, and glass of wine at my side, watching the biggest thing to happen to Richmond since the Civil War. :) Hope you all have a good weekend!
