Inspiration

First of all, no silly April Fools jokes here, people.  I am just not that entertaining. 

Second, Happy Birthday to my brother, .  Even though he's a goober.

Of course, this is from a thousand years ago, but you get the picture.  And yes, that is a Teen.age Mut.ant N.inja Turtles shirt he's wearing.

Now, I want to talk about a home improvement project I am excited about!  For the past few weekends, the Hubs has been painstakingly trying to repair the uneven plaster walls at our house in an attempt to actually paint some of the rooms we have been putting off.  For five years.  He has primed and now we are ready to paint. 

I just looked through some pictures, and I don't seem to have any good ones that show our kitchen.  There is a double door leading from our living room, and the kitchen is the biggest room in the house, with a cathedral celing and two awesome skylights.  There are French doors leading to the screened in porch, and a bar separating the "dining" area from the actual kitchen (appliances, sink, etc.).

It still looks a lot like that, since we haven't painted the awful mellow-yellow cabinetry or anything.  Gross.  Oh, and a lot more clutter. 

I have chosen a few colors, and I think I have it narrowed down to two - a tan and a taupe, if you will - the darker on one wall in the kitchen, and the other lighter color on the one wall that reaches up to the cathedral celing in the kitchen.  I have been drooling over this artwork FOREVER.  Today, as I was trolling on the internet working hard at my job, I came across a good price for this oversized poster. 

My intention is to either frame it, or  hang it on the wall and then frame it with molding?  It looks kind of drab from this image, but I think the bright colors will really POP in the kitchen!  Since I am (financially) ages away from investing in anything like new hardwood cabinets or amazing granite countertops, I am anxious to add some color and spice to my boring kitchen!
